Since the establishment of rural school children’s palaces in 2011, Hengyang city has regarded them as the carrier to promote the balanced development of urban and rural education, the bases caring for the well-rounded development of the left-behind children, aiming to enlarge the coverage of rural school children’s palaces in towns fully.

By now, 150 rural school children’s palaces have been built and about 700,000 village students have benefited from that. The children’s palaces in village schools, abiding by the theme of “multiple functions in every inch of land”, cover an area of over 30,000 square-meter for indoor activities and over 150,000 square-meter for outdoor ones, where more than 10,000 books and nearly thousands of music, PE, and arts instruments are equipped. In this way, the palaces fulfill their function of promoting the intelligence by music, improving abilities by skills and cultivating virtues by arts, which has gained good feedback from the society.

On October 30, selected by intensive competition, 13 performances from 12 towns and Gaoxin District were shown in the talent show titled “Being A Good Youth” by Hengyang rural school children’s palaces held in Hengyang Radio and Television Center. 1 first prize, 2 second and 3 third prizes and 7 excellent prizes were awarded in the end. It is hoped that more and better palaces can be built in every village school after publishing the news report on the construction of the 13 representative palaces involved in this show.
